Alicia Alonso and National Ballet of Cuba Hit Headlines in Costa Rica
20 de marzo de 2017, 16:11San Jose, Mar 20 (Prensa Latina) The Costa Rican media highlighted today the visit of Cuban prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso, along with 50 ballet dancers from the famous National Ballet of Cuba, to perform three times at the Teatro Popular Melico Salazar.
During almost a month the performances on March 25th and 26th at the well-known theater, as well as pictures of the ballet Giselle and Alicia Alonso have been shown in the large main billboards of this capital city.
The media increased expectations by using the best adjectives for Alicia AlonsoÂ´s visit, from today until Sunday, as well as the homages she will be paid by the National Assembly and the University of Costa Rica, which will award her the Doctor Honoris Causa degree.
The newspaper La Nacion, the one with biggest circulation and influence in the country, named its article 'Alicia Alonso, queen of ballet, comes to Costa Rica', while saying 'Living legend of ballet, prima ballerina assoluta directs the National ballet of Cuba. At 96 years old, she will be granted the Doctor Honoris Causa degree.'
Meanwhile, Teletica, channel 7, said that Alicia Alonso, legend of the Cuban dance will be given the Doctor Honoris Causa degree and the television channel Repretel said that the National Ballet of Cuba will visit Costa Rica to delight the audience with the best of ballet.
