Talking about Solution Schemes for Syria Is Considered Premature
20 de marzo de 2017, 11:53Moscow, March 20 (Prensa Latina) It is premature at the moment to talk about concrete formulas for a solution to the conflict in Syria, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said today in commenting on statements by deputy Leonid Slutski.
Speaking of concrete parameters to end the Syrian war is now premature, said Peskov, who clarified that the foreign policy is determined by the head of state and enforced by the Foreign Ministry.
There is no unified opinion on a process that is solved with difficulty, said the Russian presidential spokesman.
Sluski, at the head of the Duma Foreign Affairs Committee, considered during a visit to Damascus that Syria would deal with several aspects, including the exchange of prisoners and the formation of autonomies.
Without the creation of national entities, a negotiated solution to the Syrian dispute would be unthinkable, said the deputy, who traveled to the Levantine country along with members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Russia is sponsoring, along with Turkey and Iran, rounds of talks in Astana between leaders of armed formations and representatives of the Syrian government, amid a truce agreed since December 30 for all of Syria.
In the Kazakh capital, the mechanisms for controlling truce and punishment for offenders, the possibility of an agreement to form a constitutional commission and to create a zone of reconciliation were analyzed.
Russia was called by the Syrian Government to participate with its combat aviation in late 2015 to confront armed terrorist groups.
