EU Commissioner Highlights the Information Exchange
Rome, March 19 (Prensa Latina) European Union (EU) Security Commissioner Julian King highlighted the importance of the information exchange between member countries of the regional body to combat terrorism.
In obvious reference to the failures caused by the absence of a timely and multidirectional flow of data, Julian King recalled how Anis Amri, author of Berlin terrorist attack in December, circulated through nations of Schengen agreement with 14 different identities.
This, 'he said at an interview with the La Repubblica newspaper, reviewed by Rainews,' should not happen any more and so we will take other steps in the spring.
In this regard, he announced the presentation of several recommendations made by specialists from his office during the last months.
He explained that the idea is not only to enhance the technical architecture, but also to encourage and even force the States to share information against terrorism on the Schengen system.
Julian King considered that there are three determining factors for the effectiveness of information exchange: an adequate IT platform, the quality of data provided by each member and the speed with which they can be used.
