Canadians Trust More in Scientists and the Press
Ottawa, (Prensa Latina) Canadians trust much more in the scientific community or the communication media than in their own federal government, as revealed by a poll by Campaign Research published Friday.
Nearly 83 percent of the Canadian citizens prefers to trust the men and women of science, and 63 percent, in the press, particularly Canadian television network CBC, which got 71 percentual points in the poll.
Canadian federal level governmental authorities reached 56 percent of support, political polls, 45 percent, and big business representatives, reached 39 percent.
Thirty-three percent of the Canadian Conservative Party questioned people supported the federal government while 50 percent preferred the media and 76 percent supported the scientists.
Among the members of the Liberal Party, 78 percent showed their support to the governmental authorities, 57 percent supported the political polls and 57 percent supported the information on the Internet.
This investigation was made between March 5 and 7, by means of telephone calls and questions online.
